Le Sueur County Fair set for 169th year
One of the longest running Minnesota County Fairs is celebrating its 169th year next week.
The New Prague High School girls' swimming and diving team advanced a dozen swimmers and divers in six events to the state meet next week at the University of Minnesota while claiming its first-ever section team championship tonight in Rochester.
Jane Busch, age 92, of New Prague, formerly of St. Benedict, died peacefully on Friday, November 11, 2022 at Mala Strana Health and Rehabilitation Center. Born in Belle Plaine Township on November 26, 1929, she was the daughter of Peter and Anna (Bartusek) Neisen. She was raised on the family farm near Union Hill, MN, attended a country schoolhouse, and graduated from New Prague High School.
Major Rev. Eugene Theisen (US Air Force, retired), center, talks to students at St. Wenceslaus School during Veterans Day Friday, Nov. 11. Behind him are members of the New Prague Veterans Honor Guard. Rev. Theisen spoke about his experiences as a chaplain in the Air Force and answered questions from the students and their parents that attended the Veterans Day service.
The New Prague Veterans Honor Guard attended ceremonies at area schools and local nursing homes on both Thursday, Nov. 10, and Nov. 11.
After weeks of campaigning, door-knocking, meeting voters, handing out literature, presenting information and answering questions, voters finally had their say Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 8.

Heather Nichole Nelson (Traver), 43, of New Prague, died Monday, October 17, 2022. Born in Fussa,Tokyo, Japan. She was a GSR at Coborns and loved being outdoors, fishing and being with her family.
Dorothy Ann (Duban) Kocina, age 90, of New Prague passed away peacefully November 7, 2022 with family around her at Mala Strana in New Prague, MN.
Dorothy was born on August 9, 1932 in Erin Township, Montgomery, MN to Frank and Anna (Peterka) Duban. She was proud of her Czechoslovakian heritage and became Montgomery Redbirds High School Homecoming Queen. After graduating from high school, she became a loving mother of 6 children while enjoying her life on the farm for 56 years.
Richard “Rick” Koenig (Jackson), age 60, of Mahnomen, MN, died Thursday, November 2, 2022, under the loving care of family and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Dorthea (Dottie) Anderson, age 81, of Lonsdale, MN, previously of Burnsville and Eagan, MN, entered eternal life on Friday, November 4, 2022, at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN, after a 13-year battle with Alzheimer’s.
Dottie was born on March 23, 1941, in Springfield, IL, the daughter of Albert Leland and Betty Lee Traylor. Growing up she enjoyed spending time with her large family in Illinois. She was married to her loving husband, Michael Anderson, for 59 years, and together they had two children, Jeff and Jennifer.
Glorene A (Fahrenkamp) Novak, age 88, of Prior Lake, MN, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, in New Prague, MN.
A Christian Funeral will be held on Friday, November 11, 2022, at 11 am, with a time of gathering from 9-10:45 am, both at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Fish Lake, 20200 Fairlawn Avenue, Prior Lake, MN. Rev. Dr. Brent L Parrish will preside. Interment immediately after service at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery and lunch to follow.
The New Prague High School girls' cross country finished 12th at the state cross country meet this afternoon, Saturday, Nov. 5, at St. Olaf College.
In their first-ever girls' state cross-country meet berth, the Trojans entered the meet seeded 14th.

Fire broke out at a Northeast 9th Avenue, Lonsdale, residence on Thursday night, Nov. 3. No one was injured in the blaze.
According to Lonsdale Fire Chief Dave Pfluke, the fire was reported by a neighbor at 6:34 p.m., and firefighters were at the scene in under 10 minutes.
“The attached garage was fully engulfed when we arrived, and thankfully the family was already out of the home,” Pfluke stated. “We did rescue a couple of their pets—the ones the family weren’t able to grab on their way out. So, everyone—even their pets—did make it out okay.”
New Prague High School held a Pep Fest for the girls cross country team Thursday, Nov. 3, in the high school gym. The team finished second at its Tuesday, Oct. 25, section meet, earning a berth in the Saturday, Nov. 5, state meet at St. Olaf College in Northfield. Janet A. Busch, age 90, died Tuesday, November 1, 2022, peacefully with her family at her side at Mayo Clinic Health System Hospital Rochester. Janet was born February 14, 1932, in New Prague to Math F. and Catherine H. (Solheid) Pint. She grew up in the Union Hill area and attended county district school in Union Hill and then New Prague High School. She married Ambrose H. Busch on July 28, 1951 at St.
A motorcyclist on East Main Street was injured in a crash at the roundabout at Columbus Avenue Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 1. The motorcyclist, a 72-year-old man from St. Louis Park, was heading east when he crashed at the roundabout. He was wearing a helmet. The man was assisted by New Prague firefighters and police and transported to Mayo Clinic Health Systems New Prague. Early Wednesday morning, Nov. 2, a New Prague Public Works crew painted a yellow stripe around roundabouts along Main Street.
