Sister Kara (Clareen) Hennes, 73 died peacefully on Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at Saint Scholastica Convent, St. Cloud, Minn. A private Eucharist of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Benedict’s Monastery on Saturday, February 20, 2021, followed by burial in the monastery cemetery. Dr. Thomas (Tom) Borak, age 78, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 25th, 2021 at Medical Center Of The Rockies, Loveland, CO. He was born on August 2nd, 1942 in Minneapolis, MN to Mayme and John Borak of New Prague, MN. He is survived by his loving wife Marie-Louise Borak (Meier), daughter Theresa Cordova, son-in-law Francisco Cordova, grandchildren Emiliano and Eloise Cordova, and sister Helen Anawalt.

Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, February 19, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, New Prague, MN. Burial will follow at St. John the Evangelist Cemetery, Union Hill, MN. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 18, from 4:00 p.m. ~ 8:00 p.m. at the Kolden Funeral Home in Belle Plaine, MN. Visitation will continue Friday morning at the funeral home in Belle Plaine from 8:30 a.m. until about 10:15 a.m.

Caroline Pelant, age 89 of Northfield / Lonsdale, passed away Thursday morning, February 11, 2021, at Three Links Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00PM, Saturday, February 13, 2021, at the Church of St. Dominic, Northfield. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Masks are required and the funeral home will assist with social distancing. Interment will be in Annunciation Cemetery, Hazelwood.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor’s choice.
Rebecca “Becky” L. Brahee, age 59, of Cologne passed away on Monday, February 1, 2021 in Cologne.

Rebecca “Becky” Lucille Schmitz was born September 7, 1961 in New Prague, MN the daughter of LeRoy and Verena (Sand) Schmitz. She graduated from New Prague High School in 1981. In 2010, Becky was united in marriage to her high school sweetheart.
Raymond J. Jaeckels, age 78, of Northfield, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Raymond was born January 5, 1943, in Duelm, MN, the son of Henry and Hilda (Wegman) Jaeckels. At the age of 15, he moved south to Bloomington, Minnesota and this was the beginning of a 60-year career in the water well drilling business. He was united in marriage to Grace Stauffeneker on March 10, 1962. They made their home outside of Northfield where they raised their four children.

Dennis D. Johnson, age 81 of New Prague, MN passed away peacefully on January 17, 2021, after contracting Covid-19, which accelerated his battle with Alzheimer's Disease.
Dennis was born August 29, 1939 in Blooming Prairie, MN to Menard and Meta (Stork) Johnson. When he was a young boy, the family moved to Elkton, MN. In 1958, he graduated from Elkton Public School where his lifelong love of football began.
Eileen Florinda (Foss) Chapman, 78, of Montgomery, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 24, 2021, at the Mayo Hospital in Mankato.
Eileen was born on April 2, 1942, in Reine Township (Skime) of Roseau County, MN, to Olaf and Florinda (Skime) Foss. She was a 1960 high school graduate of International Falls High School.
Eileen met her sweetheart, Harvey Chapman, at a bowling alley in International Falls when she was 20 years old and they were united in marriage on March 14, 1964, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in International Falls.
Melvin J. Hartman, age 68, of New Prague, died peacefully on Saturday, January 30, 2021 at Central Heath Care in Le Center, MN. Mel was born on August 28, 1952 in New Prague to Alfred Christ and Veronica (Deutsch) Hartman. He graduated from New Prague High School and then entered the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War. He married Carol Nold on November 20, 1982 at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. Mel owned and operated West End Liquors until retirement. Mel was Mr.
Jeanette T “Jane” Horejsi, age 93, of Hutchinson, formerly of New Prague, died peacefully on Friday, January 29, 2021 at Harmony River Nursing Home, Hutchinson. Jeanette was born on November 6, 1927 to Frank J. and Eleanor A. (Simota) Mikolasek. She attended district country school and St. Wenceslaus Catholic School. Jeanette married George F.
Philip Richard Dohmen, age 61 of Montgomery, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 at the Lutheran Home in Belle Plaine. A private service will be held at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Irene Brown, age 90 of Northfield, MN, passed away Thursday evening, January 21, 2021, at home.
Irene Cecelia Brown was born December 11, 1930, on the family farm in New Market, MN to William and Celia (Cervenka) Shimota. She was raised on the family farm, and baptized and confirmed at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague. She attended country school and graduated from New Prague High School in 1948. Following her education she had various jobs including working at Dayton’s in downtown Minneapolis.
