the WEM girls track and field team scored points in helping the Lady Bucs win the 2021 Gopher Conference Championship.
WEM had scoring performances by more than two dozen individuals in scoring 164 points to win the title Tuesday, May 25 at Hayfield.
Medford placed second with 108 points. Third through eighth went as follows: United South Central/Alden-Conger (93.5), NRHEG (82), Hayfield (81), Blooming Prairie (81), Maple River (50.5), and Faribault BA (30).

The 36th Annual Morristown Dam Days started Wednesday, June 2 with the crowning of Miss Morristown.
Grand Marshals of this year’s Dam Days Parade are Morristown Morries baseball teams.
Friday, June 4 The rest of the festivities begin on Friday with Family Fun Shows of Mankato at 5 p.m. and the numerous food stands and beer garden also at 5 p.m.
There will be a Euchre Tournament at 1:30 p.m. in the Morristown Community Center. Don’t forget the Twilight Parade at 7 p.m.
At 8:30 p.m. music by Old Country Boys will be under the Big Top Tent.

After more than half a century in the newspaper and printing business, Lambrecht, of Montgomery, is retiring. His last day with Suel Printing Co. is June 4.

Father George Grafsky will celebrate his golden jubilee, marking 50 years in the priesthood, this weekend at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery.
Grafsky retired from active ministry in 2015, but continues to help with Masses at area churches when needed. He also serves as chaplain for many of the fire departments and emergency medical services in the area.
Grafsky will celebrate Most Holy Redeemer’s 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday evening, May 29 and the 8:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday morning, May 30.

The Le Sueur County Board held a very short meeting Tuesday, May 25.
Among the items on the agenda was the recognition of three long-time employees, who are retiring at the end of the month.
Public Health Director Cindy Shaughnessy (40 + years), Chief Deputy Auditor-Treasurer Connie Kopet (39 years), and County Auditor-Treasurer Pam Simonette (36 years) received retirement plaques.
In other business:

Jasper Morris and Evan Lange-Wenker each won an individual title at the NRHEG Invitational Thursday, May 20 in New Richland.
Morris was the top 1,600-meter runner, finishing in 5:04.88, two seconds in front of Cohen Stursa of Medford.
Lange-Wenker won the 300-meter hurdles by almost three seconds over Stursa in a time of 46.84.
The Buccaneers placed third in the four-team Gopher Conference Meet. Medford was the team champion with 88 points. NRHEG placed second (70), WEM third (60), and Blooming Prairie (57).

A bases loaded walk in the sixth inning plated the winning run in a 5-4 victory for United South Central over WEM Monday, May 24 in Gopher Conference baseball.
The Bucs held a 4-2 lead when the Rebels scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the win.
Senior Kurtis Crosby picked up a pair of hits including a double, scored twice, knocked in a run, and walked once to lead the Bucs.
Tanner Hines, Aiden Snesrud, and Dylan Ahlman also knocked in runs.
The WEM baseball team was limited to three hits in a pair of losses last week.

My kids are ready, but this momma is still marking up the color-coded calendar and trying to figure out the logistics of getting everyone everywhere they need to be.
I’m excited for my girls to participate in swimming, soccer, tennis, and volleyball, plus a babysitting clinic and a few other activities—all good things.
But, what working parent can get their kids to a 10 a.m. event every day for an entire week and then be back two hours later to shuttle them home?
I get it.
It’s summer. Kids don’t have a schedule per se.

The 36th Annual Morristown Dam Days Celebration will begin with the coronation of Miss Morristown 2021 on Wednesday, June 2, at 7 p.m. in the Morristown Community Center. Admission is two dollars and a Dam Days button. Dam Days buttons will be sold at the door.
Miss Morristown Royalty 2020 Carly Reinke and Sadie Oorlog will crown Miss Morristown 2021 and share their memories of the past year.
Candidates will be judged on poise, personality, appearance, educational accomplishments, activities, community involvement and talent.

She’s had enough ranch dressing to last her a decade.
2011 Waterville-Elysian- Morristown High School graduate Tabitha Nusbaum, daughter of Carrie Schmidtke and Dan Nusbaum, was dropped into a big vat of cold ranch dressing as part of NBC’s television gameshow, Ellen’s Game of Games.
The episode featuring Nusbaum aired Sunday night, May 16.
On the show, Nusbaum played “You Bet Your Wife,” a game where one contestant wagers what their partner will know. If the partner does not know the answer in time, he or she is dropped into a big vat of ranch dressing.

Carl A. Villwock, age 75 of Kilkenny, died on Sunday, May 9, 2021 at home.
Funeral services will be at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waterville on Monday, May 17, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with the Reverend David C. Mumme officiating. Interment will be at Concordia Cemetery, North Morristown.
Visitation will be at Boldt Funeral Home, Faribault on Sunday, May 16th from 4 to 7 p.m. and also at church for one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Bernadine (O’Leary) Hildebrant’s a little lady. Her knees don’t always cooperate so she uses a walker to get around her home, but even at almost 100 years old, she’s quick witted and enjoys visiting with family and friends.
She’ll turn 100 years young on Monday, May 17.
