Joseph T. Schiprett, age 89, of Lonsdale, died peacefully on Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home. Joe was born on February 9, 1934 in Kilkenny, MN to Joseph B. and Mary A. (Mader) Schiprett. He served in the United States Army from 1954 - 1956. Joe married Helen M. Trcka on April 27, 1957. Together they bought a farm in rural Lonsdale and raised 7 children. They had been married for 50 years. He worked for 47 years at Robin Hood Flour Mill in New Prague, which became International Multifoods and then Conagra, retiring in 1997. Joe also ran a field tiling business and owned a hobby farm. Joe stayed on that farm for 60 years before moving to town.
He enjoyed tinkering around the farm, giving backhoe, tractor and golf cart rides to children, gardening, playing cards, putting puzzles together and spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his children, Pat (Dean) Rezac of Lonsdale, Sandy (Scott) Carlson of Kalispell, MT, Lynda (Rick) Jirak of Webster and JoAnn Schiprett of Lonsdale; grandchildren Tiffany and Amanda Schiprett, Matt Anderson, Nicole and Daniel Carlson, and Adam and Mark Jirak; great-grandchildren Aiden, Jaevin, Armani and Kaylee; and a sister Delores Pardy of Minneapolis. Joe is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Helen, sons Kenny and Joe Schiprett and daughter Jean Thompson; brothers Milo, Raymond and Francis Schiprett, sisters Bessie Sensibaugh, Evelyn Ahrens, Eileen Spitzack and Mary Lou Dohmen.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 6, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Most Holy Trinity Church in Veseli with Father John Lapensky officiating. Visitation will take place Saturday, May 6, 2023 at White's Funeral Home in Lonsdale from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m.. Burial will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted.
