The last piece of New Prague’s new Veterans Memorial was put in place the evening of Tuesday, Nov. 16, as members of the New Prague American Legion helped representatives of Brodin Studios set up a statue of a soldier. More than five people helped move the life sized 500 pound bronze statue from a trailer to the stone pedestal in the center of the memorial near Main Street.
Holes were drilled into the stone pedestal to match up with pegs in the bottom of the statue’s feet. The group of men then placed the statue into place. New Prague American Legion member Paul Busch, who is also with the group that oversaw the funding and building of the new Veterans Memorial, said Chart Industries and Jeff Belzer's Auto, both of New Prague, donated the statue.
“It gives me goosebumps,” said Busch about the now completed Veterans Memorial. “There are always people there taking a look at it.”
