He has seen ups and downs since leaving military service in 2015. The helping hand William Bloedow received during Military Appreciation Day at the Minnesota State Fair is a sign his service wasn’t given in vain or forgotten.
A former specialist, Bloedow received a 2023 Ford Bronco through Military Warriors Support Foundation, Wells Fargo and Apple Autos during Military Appreciation Day, Tuesday, Aug. 29, at the state fair. The honor from Military Warriors Support Foundation was a four-year process elongated by the pandemic. Late one night in 2019, while he was surfing the internet, Bloedow found the foundation’s website.
Normally not one to ask for help or fill out online applications, he decided this one was worth considering. The process usually takes two years as the foundation thoroughly vetted the applications.
“We want to make sure they are the people they say they are,” said Casey Kinser, an executive vice president with the foundation. “Once the applicant applies, they stay in our system.”
