The retired judge overseeing the Le Sueur County Historical Society (LCHS) lawsuit assigned tasks and specific timelines to move the case along.
In a letter to attorneys for LCHS and the 16 plaintiffs on February 21, Retired Judge John Van de North, Jr., referenced a phone call with the attorneys where they addressed several issues, including the production of books and records, production of financial records, claims of attorney-client privilege, dates of an arbitration hearing, selection of a nominating committee for board members for an annual meeting on May 8, 2019, and dissemination of LCHS’s 2019 new member application.
Tasks due by February 28, 2019:
• Plaintiffs’ counsel will propose a scope for the production of financial records that defines/clarifies what had been ordered by the court.
• LCHS will produce financial statements and balance sheets for the past five years. (2014-2018).
• Plaintiffs’ counsel will provide the status report regarding their selection of two members for the nominating committee.
• Plaintiffs’ counsel will provide a draft notice to be published in local newspapers and/or community websites regarding the availability of LCHS’s 2019 new member applications and related information.
• Counsel will file a stipulation regarding the timing of the arbitration hearing which has been scheduled for March 25 and 26.
