Ramona "Monie" L. Hentges, 70

Ramona "Monie" L. Hentges, age 70, of Shakopee, MN, passed away from a long battle with triple negative metastatic breast cancer, on Sunday, October 22, 2023, at her home, surrounded by family.
Monie was born on June 30, 1953, in New Prague, MN, the daughter of Leonard and Christine (Wolf) Nytes. She married Michael M. Hentges on August 25, 1973, in Union Hill, MN.
Monie was very loving, charismatic, witty, humble and persistent.  She enjoyed camping along the north shore in Two Harbors and Grand Marais, sitting on the rocks meditating over Lake Superior. She also liked spiritual readings from books and podcasts, and traveling with Mike. They were fortunate to go on nine cruises that took them from the East to West coast:  Alaska, New England / Canada, Mexico and many Caribbean Islands. They enjoyed many road trips that included Mackinac Island and Niagara Falls. Monie was pushed out of her comfort and attended Sturgis a few times with Mike. She was such a good sport and held on tight. More recently, Mike and Monie were able to spend a couple weeks each winter on South Padre Island.
Flowers and gardening were a big part of her spring and summer activity; cutting, trimming and fertilizing her rose garden, buying plants and repotting them and watching them grow, and planting zinnias in the garden to watch the butterflies.  She also kept her bird feeders full of food, so she could watch all the birds feast, especially the hummingbirds, which she named as they showed up each year. Monie loved to sit on their beautiful patio enjoying conversations with family and friends.
Her smile brightened the day, she was a great listener and always seemed to have the right thing to say at the right time.  She was a woman of few words, but her words and advice were very impactful.  Monie's kids and grandchildren were very important to her.
Survived by her husband, Michael; daughters, Cynthia (Kristofer) Bolster, Jody (Daniel) Fritzen, and Katie (Chad) Minichillo; grandchildren, Kyley Bolster, Carissa Bolster, Arabella Fritzen, Carter Bolster, and Megan Fritzen; siblings, Della Braun, Helen (Dennis) Burmeister, James (Ruth Ann) Nytes, and Roman (Jeannie) Nytes. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Christine Nytes; sister, Gladys (Donald) Eilers; brother-in-law, Curt Braun.
