Overcast skies and fits of rain was the order of things on Monday, Nov. 9, as Scott County Public Health staff held a free COVID-19 clinic at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 411 Fourth Ave. SW in New Prague. At the clinics people can get tested for the virus. Held from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. it was the first of several free clinics that will be held on Mondays at that site and time until the end of the year. Scott County Public Health and the Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) are the sponsors of the clinics.
The clinics are open to everyone age 2 and older, whether they are showing symptoms or not. No insurance is needed and people can register online through a link at Scott County’s website. Paramedics who are trained in doing the test will do a PCR nasal swab. The turnaround time for results of the tests are between 48 to 72 hours.
Similar free clinics are being held at New Market Town Hall, 8950 230th St. E, near Lakeville from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. A clinic was held on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Those free clinics will be held on Wednesdays at the site from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. until the end of the year.
