Shima details inspirations for writing
A crowd of more than 70 people gathered at Giesenbrau Bier Co. in New Prague the evening of Wednesday, June 8, to find out more about local author Frank Shima. Before the 7 p.m. program began he signed copies of his latest book “Plum Creek” and chatted with people.
Franny Tuma, who was sponsoring the evening with the New Prague Area Historical Society, introduced Shima. She detailed how he grew up in New Prague, was a 1966 graduate of New Prague High School, played baseball and was involved in the school’s theater program. She also mentioned how he graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in metallurgical engineering and worked for 40 years as a system analyst consultant at various companies. Shima has written three books; “Vencil” in 2005, “Dead Letter” in 2008 and “Plum Creek,” plus several plays. He said the inspiration for “Plum Creek” was a...
