St. Patrick, Webster making their move in DRS

St. Patrick and Webster are climbing the DRS amateur baseball standings after a week with no losses.

St. Patrick has won three straight games and Webster is on a five game winning streak after losing their first three in league play.

Montgomery leads the league with a 7-3 record, St. Patrick (4-2), Webster (5- 3), St. Benedict (4-4), New Prague (4-4), and Union Hill, (3-3) are close behind.

In games last week, Lonsdale edged Elko, 7-6 and Montgomery defeated Prior Lake, 12-2, Wednesday, June 1. Ross Beumer had three hits and Tyler Nelson pitched the first five innings for Lonsdale. Ted Christian pitched 6 innings, allowed two hits and struck out nine for the Mallards. Ryan Iverson was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Johnny Krocak and Dawson Pint each added two hits.

Games Friday, June 3 included St. Patrick downing St. Benedict, 10-0, Webster edging Shakopee, 3-2, and Cannon Falls downing Veseli, 11-9 in a non-league game. The win for the St. Patrick Irish was the first under the new lights at Bonin Field. Trevor Divinski picked top 10 strikeouts in six innings to earn the win. Kal Brohmer and Zak Endres each had three hits. Endres also had three RBI.

There were seven games scheduled for Sunday, June 5. St. Patrick defeated St. Louis Park, 5-3, in a nonleague game. New Prague defeated Faribault, 11-8. St. Benedict edged Veseli, 4-3. Webster defeated first place Montgomery, 5-2. Rochester downed Elko 6-3. Union Hill defeated Prior Lake, 13-6.

Nathan Picka was 2-for-4 with a home run and two RBI for Veseli. Michael Pauly was 2-for-4 with a solo home run for the Saints. Pat Lloyd and Ryan Iverson each had two hits for the Mallards. Jake Elness had three hits and Max Drexl and Peter Grassl added two hits each for the Sox.

Joe Becker went 4-for5 with two home runs, five RBI, and four runs scored for the Union Hill Bulldogs. Conrad Masberg added three hits and Nate Lee, Jack Becker, and Brady O’Neill each added two hits. Jack Kreutzian picked up the win with a 5 2/3 innings on the mound. Jack Friedges hit a two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to lift St. Patrick over St. Louis Park. Phillip Garcia and Kal Brohmer combined for eight innings pitched. Jack Ulschmid got the win in relief.
