Thousands raised at Firefighter Floor Hockey Fundraiser

Volunteer firefighters from four different departments came together Saturday, Dec. 9 not to fight a fire but to help raise funds and toys for the local Toys For Tots programs.
More than three dozen firefighters from Elysian, Kilkenny, Morristown, and Waterville donned their helmets, safety coats and pants and battled for supremacy on the floor hockey court.
Representatives from Toys For Tots could not believe the generosity of the hundreds who attended the event. Their collection box was filled four times with toys and more than $2,000 was raised at the door, with more to come from donations from the local departments.
The event itself featured two first round battles, a third place match, and ultimately the championship.The opening matches and the championship were 15 minutes while the third place game was a 10 minute game.
In the opening round Elysian defeated Kilkenny, 3-1. Elysian firefighter McKenzie Bonogofsky scored the first goal of the tournament. Nick Cram was the first to score two goals. Brady Hiller scored the lone goal for Kilkenny.
