Union Hill Bulldogs roll over Shakopee Coyotes

Pounding out 15 hits, Union Hill thumped Shakopee, 12-1, Sunday, June 18, at Joe Schleper Stadium.
The Bulldogs blew the game open in the third inning after Nate Lee and Adam Giesen scored in the second inning and Eric Berg crossed the plate, upping the lead to 3-0 in the fourth. Union Hill added two more runs when Adam Giesen and Jack Giesen both scored to give the Bulldogs a 5-0 lead after five innings.
In the eighth inning, Matt Collins (running for Conrad Masberg), Will Busch, Nathan Berg and Lee all scored, transforming the game into a rout. Union Hill wrapped up the scoring in the top of the ninth when Henry Novak and Brady O’Neill scored.
Joe Becker, Henry Novak and Busch all had two hits in the win. Jack Kreutzian, Brady O’Neill, Adam Giesen, Jack Giesen and Jacob Becker also had hits for Union Hill.
On the mound, Tanner Nordrum got the win in relief of Masberg, who allowed a run and four hits in three innings. He pitched four shutout innings, allowing one hit with three strikeouts and three walks. Dusty Steinhoff pitched two innings and struck out one batter. He walked one and allowed a hit.

Webster 5, Union Hill 4 A ninth-inning rally allowed Webster to steal a win from Union Hill Saturday, June 17. The bottom of the ninth inning opened with Webster trailing, 4-1. Two singles, two walks and three UH errors later, Webster’s Augie Isaacson scored the game-winning run. Will Wareham, Chase Flaskey and Jordan Huwe all scored before Isaacson. Jake Belille scored Webster’s first run in the fifth inning. Only two of the five runs scored without the benefit of Union Hill errors. Webster had managed only five hits before the final inning. It had put only two runners into scoring position through the first eight frames. Flaskey was the lone Webster player with more than one hit. The Bulldogs opened the scoring with a run in the opening frame. Eric Berg was hit by a pitch and later scored. Union Hill’s second run came in a more conventional fashion. Nathan Berg hit a solo home run in the fourth inning. Conrad Masberg scored the Bulldogs’ third and fourth runs. In the sixth inning, he singled and later scored on Nathan Berg’s hit. In the eighth, Masberg walked and advanced to second on a passed ball, to third and home on wild pitches. Masberg and Nathan Berg had two hits each. The Bulldogs finished with six hits. Jack Kreutzian and Tanner Nordham had UH’s other hits. Webster’s Ryan Joyner got the win, striking out two batters in the ninth inning for Webster. Perter Tveite pitched the first eight innings, striking out 10 UH hitters, allowing two earned runs, walking one and scattering six hits. He plunked three Union Hill hitters. Charlie Otteson took the ‘L’ for Union Hill. He pitched eight-plus innings and allowed five runs, two of which were earned. He gave up six hits and and struck out four Webster hitters.
Green Isle 11, St. Patrick 2 (Game 1) Brian Arens made his Irish debut on the mound in the June 17 first game, pitching six innings, keeping Green Isle to only two runs through the fifth inning. Jace Westman pitched the seventh inning. Offense was led by Joe Weiers with a few hits, an Ian Segna RBI double, and a Ben Taxdahl solo home run. Green Isle 8, St. Patrick 6 (Game 2) In a back-and-forth affair, St. Patrick led 3-0, saw Green Isle take a 4-3 lead, and were later up 6-4, but couldn’t maintain the lead. Conner Larson started and went five innings for St. Patrick and was relieved by newcomer Brady Flicek. St. Patrick’s offense was led by Ben Taxdahl who had a sacrifice fly and a solo home run, his second of the day June 17. Ian Segna drove in a run while Ryan and Jack Friedges scored multiple runs and Joe Weiers scored a run and a couple base hits.

PL Mudcats 8, St. Benedict 3 The Saints jumped to a 2-0 lead but couldn’t maintain the advantage in the Thursday, June 15, clash at Prior Lake. St. Benedict scored solo runs in the first and third inning. But Prior Lake rallied, evening the score with two runs in the third frame. Both teams scored once in the fourth frame before the Mudcats took over. They scored twice in the fifth inning and three times in the eighth to claim the victory. Patrick Huisman drove in two runs and had two RBI for the Saints. Alex Mizak also drove in a run. Huisman had two of his team’s seven hits. Jack Jones, David Buesgens, Noah Miller and Mizak also had hits for the Saints. Tyler Hughes pitched five innings for St. Benedict. He gave up three earned runs. Cole Minnick pitched three innings and gave up two earned runs. Minnick gave up three hits and struck out three Mudcats. Hughes surrenderd five hits and struck out two batters.
New Market v. St. Patrick The June 18 game was postponed because of wet field conditions.
Hampton 6, New Market 3 Four Hampton runs in the eighth inning gave the Cards the June 17 victory. Details of the contest were not available when The New Prague Times went to press.
New Prague 14, St. Benedict 3 The Orioles pounded out 17 hits and drove in 14 runs against St. Benedict Friday, June 16. Eric Wagner had three doubles and Gavin Bergman collected three hits to lead New Prague. Anthony Mader, Bryce Novak, Aiden Dorzinski, Ben Schmitz and Tommy McBroom all had two hits. Jayce Luna started on the hill and got the win. TJ Bergland came in to relieve the last two innings against St. Benedict.
Wanamingo Jacks 9, Lonsdale Aces 1 The Jacks built a 9-0 lead before the Aces scored in the Saturday, June 17 clash. Wanamingo scored three runs in the first inning and two more in the second. They added one in the third and three runs in the sixth. Lonsdale’s lone run came in the bottom of the sixth inning. The team finished the game with three hits. Montgomery 13, Shakopee 2 The Mallards scored 10 runs before the Coyotes finally tallied in the Friday, June 16 game at Montgomery. The Ducks built a 4-0 lead with three runs in the second and one more in the third before a big six run outburst in the fourth. After the Coyotes cut into Montgomery’s lead with two runs in the top of the fifth, the Mallards returned the favor with two runs of their own in the home half of the inning. The Mallards closed out the scoring with a run in the sixth frame before the contest was ended via the 10-run rule. Ryan Iverson scored three runs and Dawson Pint crossed the plate twice for the Ducks. Pat Lloyd, Mike Flicek, Nolan Readmond, Johnny Krocak, Max Krautkremer, Jack Barnett, Cole Pint and Aaron Dwyer also scored runs in the win. Dawson Pint and Krautkremer had two RBIs in the win. Flicek’s lone hit was a triple with a man aboard for the Ducks. Iverson and Cole Pint also had an RBI each. Krautkremer and Ben Anderson split the work on the mound for Montgomery. Krautkremer struck out seven in five innings pitched. Anderson struck out three Coyotes and allowed two hits to Shakopee.
New Market 11, New Prague 0 The Orioles fell to New Market Wednesday, June 14, with an impressive display of Muskie power. New Market belted four home runs to take an early 4-0 lead through four innings. New Market exploded for six more runs in the fifth inning to put the game out of reach. The Orioles’ starter, Sam Baker, pitched well against a tough lineup, striking out six through five innings. Matt Zweber came in and pitched well the last two innings. Gavin Bergman, James Fuerniss and Ben Schmitz had hits for the Orioles.
Lonsdale 4, Faribault 3 (13 inns.) The host Aces outlasted Faribault, scoring in the bottom of the 13th inning for the win of the June 14 contest. The Aces outhit the Lakers, 13-5, and took advantage of Faribault errors for two unearned runs in the win. Joseph Malecha drove in two runs and Marty Kalina drove in another for Lonsdale. Spencer Mellgren, Jack Skluzacek, Ross Beumer and Thomas Hoppert all scored for the Aces. Malecha paced the Aces with three hits, two for doubles. Mellgren, Skluzacek, Chad Sterling and Hoppert all had two hits each. Isaac Pint and Beumer also had hits foir Lonsdale. Daniel Turner pitched six innings for Lonsdale. He gave up three hits and two earned runs. Turner struck out six Lakers. Tyler Nelson pitched seven, allowing one run while striking out six, in the win.
Elko 8, Montgomery 1 The Express put a close game away with six runs in the seventh inning of the June 14 game in Montgomery. After the Express scored a run in the second inning and the Mallards countered with their only run in the fifth, Elko took a 2-1 lead in the sixth and put the ‘W’ on ice with six runs in the seventh inning. Elko finished the game with 17 hits. The Mallards finished with eight hits. Carson Blasing and Trevor Rasmusson finished with three hits each for the Express. T.J. Evanson drove in five RBIs and had two hits, both home runs. Ryan Baumgartner had two hits, scored a run and and RBI for Elko. Dylan Thomas finished with two hits and scored a run for Elko. Elko’s Justin Roitman scored a run and had two hits. Glenn Parker pitched seven innings for Elko, allowing one earned run. He scattered eight hits and struck out five. Blasing and Thomas also pitched for the Express. Max Krautkremer had two hits and scored the Ducks’ lone run. Pat Lloyd, Jack Barnett, Tom Flicek, Johnny Krocak and Kyle Hintz had hits for the Mallards. Derek Christenson pitched six innings for Montgomery. Barnett and Alec Dohman also pitched in the setback.
